Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nobunaga Oda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nobunaga Oda has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nobunaga Oda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Sam Fisher!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fisher misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Oda.
Fisher scores with a jab to the head.

Oda bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Oda has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Fisher is trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Oda tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Oda has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Oda scores with a couple of short elbows.
Oda wants to control but Fisher is keeping him busy.
Oda throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Oda swings around for an armbar but Fisher sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Oda's guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Fisher working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Fisher is taking a breather. Oda says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Oda has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close round but I would say that Nobunaga Oda will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Fisher comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Well Fisher has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
