Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cleveland Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ruslan Byk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruslan Byk has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Cleveland Cox's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cleveland Cox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ruslan Byk!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cox throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Byk counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Byk lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Cox or not.

Byk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Oooooh!!! Byk has knocked Cox down with a huge combo! Byk steps away and waves a wobbly Cox back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Byk moves into the clinch.
Byk avoids a wild elbow strike from Cox.
Cox throws a punch but it's blocked by Byk.

Byk jumps into guard, dragging Cox to the mat.

Byk isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Cox stacks Byk on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Cox!
Byk is looking to regain half guard here but Cox keeps moving and retains side control.
Byk is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Cox has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Cox is looking to take a break and control but Byk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Byk is trying to work for a sweep but Cox has mounted him!
Byk tries to lock up and control but Cox gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Byk is trying desperately to improve position.

Cox jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Byk manages to avoid the submission attempt.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Byk can do anything to dispel that myth.

Byk pushes Cox away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Cox gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Byk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cox. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Byk tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Cox easily slips into full mount!
Byk tries to hold on but Cox postures up.
Byk is looking to improve his position but Cox isn't that keen on the idea.
Byk reaches up to try and control the position but Cox seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Byk rolls and tries to escape and now Cox has his back!

Byk trying to control the action but Cox just sinks the hooks in.
Cox struggling to keep hold of the position.

Byk defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Cox's arms.
Byk wants to control his opponent's hands but Cox gets his hands free.
Cox thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Cox is looking for the choke from the back position but Byk is controlling his hands well.

Cox is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Byk can't escape the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Byk avoids the strikes from Cox.
Cox controlling the position well here. Byk rolled but Cox kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Cox lands with a hammerfist to the side of Byk's head.
Byk tries to roll but Cox sticks to his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Byk holding both Cox 's hands and preventing any damage.

Cox is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Cox dodges the punch combination from Byk.
Byk blocks a head kick by Cox.

Byk shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cox manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Byk wants to control from the top but Cox keeps moving.

Cox is looking for a triangle but Byk pushes his legs off easily.
Cox might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Byk drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Cox dives on top into guard.

Cox prevents Byk from getting back to his feet.
Byk looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cox is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cox is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Byk pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Byk is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Byk looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Cox puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cox in particular looking to stall.
Cox throwing shots but Byk is blocking nicely.

Byk looks like he's trying to stand up.
Byk is trying to control but can't.
Cox is controlling the pace.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Cleveland Cox wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Byk moves into the clinch successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ruslan Byk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Cox. No joy for Byk on that attempt.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Byk takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Cleveland Cox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ruslan Byk.

Byk has an active guard here but Cox has managed to pass into half guard.

Cox thows a huge punch but Byk dodges it nicely.

Cox could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Byk is looking to control Cox's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Byk avoid being mounted?

Cleveland Cox has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Cox dives in for a single leg takedown but Byk sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Cox has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Byk is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Byk breaks from the clinch.

Byk closes the distance and pushes Cox back into the cage.
Cox will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Byk up against the cage.

Byk cracks Cox with a good jab.

Byk tries for a takedown but Cox manages to get underhooks.
Cox jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Byk walks away with a smile on his face. Cox gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Cox takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Ruslan Byk seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Byk jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Byk is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cox sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Byk takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Byk stuns Cox with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Cox gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Cox fails with the takedown.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Byk throws a head kick but Cox moves out of range.

Byk closes the distance and clinches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Byk pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Byk stuffs the takedown.
Byk shoots in for a takedown but Cox shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Cox slaps away a takedown attempt from Byk, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Byk doesn't manage to clinch there - Cox circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cox.
Cleveland Cox has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ruslan Byk is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Byk darts in looking for a takedown but Cox gets double underhooks and turns Byk into the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ruslan Byk comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Byk winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
