The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knytmare with a body punch. A glancing blow. No joy there for Knytmare, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Knytmare shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Knytmare showed some decent athleticism there. Knytmare trying to mount his opponent but Rauparaha Ii defends it. Rauparaha Ii looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Knytmare seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Knytmare is trying to work for a kimura but Rauparaha Ii is defending well.

You can't force these things though and Knytmare defends well. Rauparaha Ii is breathing heavily. Rauparaha Ii had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Knytmare defends it easily. Knytmare scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Knytmare looking to sit in guard and control but Rauparaha Ii gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. That was a close round but I would say that Te Rauparaha Ii will probably get the nod. That's time! Rauparaha Ii's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Knytmare throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rauparaha Ii was covering up waiting for the punch and Knytmare finishes the takedown easily into guard. Knytmare wants to stand and escape but instead Rauparaha Ii has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Rauparaha Ii wanted to stand there but Knytmare had control of the position. Knytmare wants to sweep but no luck. Knytmare will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Rauparaha Ii content to stall in guard here. Knytmare really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rauparaha Ii. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Rauparaha Ii prevents Knytmare from getting back to his feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Knytmare attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Knytmare throws a leg kick but Rauparaha Ii sees it coming and moves out of range. Rauparaha Ii shoots and misses and Knytmare counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Knytmare misses with a series of wild punches.
Rauparaha Ii doesn't succeed with the takedown and Knytmare connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Knytmare closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rauparaha Ii did well to prevent Knytmare getting side control.

Rauparaha Ii is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Knytmare's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Knytmare's back! Rauparaha Ii is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. This has been an exciting period of action! Rauparaha Ii avoiding Knytmare 's attempts to control his hands. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Knytmare trying to control the action but Rauparaha Ii just sinks the hooks in. Knytmare is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Rauparaha Ii gets his way!

That was a close second round but I would say that Te Rauparaha Ii will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Knytmare is looking to stand back up but Rauparaha Ii counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Knytmare. Knytmare wants to get back to his feet.

Rauparaha Ii is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Knytmare can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Rauparaha Ii trying to control the position from guard on top but Knytmare is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Nik Knytmare has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Rauparaha Ii pushing down on Knytmare's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Te Rauparaha Ii is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rauparaha Ii in particular looking to stall. Knytmare is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Te Rauparaha Ii. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rauparaha Ii, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
