Coonaments gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Vanderlinde gets control of Coonaments's arms and successfully pulls guard. Vanderlinde will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Coonaments avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Coonaments got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vanderlinde has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Coonaments has managed to get both his arms back between Vanderlinde's legs - danger averted.
Coonaments thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Vanderlinde has his foot on Coonaments's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Coonaments works his way back into a safe position though.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vanderlinde escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Coonaments gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Vanderlinde is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Coonaments frees his head nicely. Oh but Vanderlinde has switched to an armbar! Coonaments is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

A relieved looking CJ Vanderlinde thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
