PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Crewe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crewe comes to the cage accompanied by The Longest Yard. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Crewe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quinton Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Jackson or perhaps it was just good defense by Crewe which made him look bad.

Jackson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Crewe is looking for a sweep. Jackson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Crewe flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Crewe looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Jackson is working for a submission of some sort.
Jackson is looking to take a break and control but Crewe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Crewe is looking to improve his position.

Jackson is working for a kimura but Crewe is defending it quite comfortably.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Jackson scores with a takedown into Crewe's guard.

Jackson trying to control the position from guard on top but Crewe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Crewe throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Crewe looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Crewe looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jackson is one step ahead there.

Jackson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
A jab from Crewe misses.
Jackson defending well as Crewe loads up on a big left hand.
Jackson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Crewe but Crewe pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Crewe stuffs the takedown.
Paul Crewe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quinton Jackson.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Crewe throws a hook to the side of Jackson's head but Jackson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Crewe shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jackson moves in looking to clinch but Crewe pushes him off.
Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Crewe paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Crewe throws a hook but Jackson blocks it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Crewe avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Crewe throws out a loose jab but Jackson uses good head movement to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quinton Jackson dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Crewe throws a hook but Jackson avoids it easily.
Crewe looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Jackson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Jackson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jackson won't allow Crewe to sweep him here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Crewe keeping moving, preventing Jackson from controlling successfully.
Crewe manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jackson manages to get himself to full guard.

Jackson is pulling down on Crewe's head. It's preventing any offense from Crewe, at least for the moment.
Crewe working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Crewe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jackson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Crewe trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Crewe throws a big right hand that misses.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Crewe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jackson looking for a sweep. Not yet Jackson, not yet.

Crewe is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nice defenses there by Jackson.
A jab from Crewe misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jackson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Jackson is breathing heavily.
Jackson manages to capitalize on a mistake by Crewe to take his back!
Crewe manages to escape to a better position under a series of strikes. Jackson is now in side control.
Jackson trying to control the position but Crewe is working away.

Crewe can't do much from the bottom here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jackson tries to move into full mount but can't pass Crewe's legs.

Jackson decides to stand back up. Jackson steps back and let's Crewe get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quinton Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Crewe slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Crewe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard.
Crewe passes Jackson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Crewe stops Jackson from getting back to his feet.
Paul Crewe has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Crewe is trying for a kimura here. Jackson looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Crewe wins by kimura!
