PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Troy Cannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jr Deloitte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Troy Cannon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jr Deloitte!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cannon moves into the clinch.
A right hook to the body lands for Deloitte.
Deloitte fails to pull guard.
Deloitte misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Cannon.
Cannon controlling the action here for a moment.
Cannon tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Deloitte smiles and moves away.
Deloitte gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Cannon counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Deloitte!

Deloitte tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Cannon decides to take the fight back to the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Deloitte is defended easily by Cannon.
Troy Cannon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jr Deloitte.

and Cannon counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Deloitte!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cannon wants to stand but Deloitte is controlling his arm.
Cannon wants to control but Deloitte is keeping him busy.
Cannon works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Cannon trying to control the action but Deloitte is working from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Deloitte tries to buck Cannon off but Cannon is having none of it.
Deloitte is trying to control Cannon's posture but Cannon avoids it.
Cannon trying to control the position but Deloitte is working away.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Cannon cracks Deloitte with a big right hand but Deloitte just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Cannon remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Cannon tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Check out the look on Cannon's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Deloitte is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Cannon in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Deloitte is looking for a sweep.

Cannon tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cannon has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Deloitte wants to control but Cannon postures up.

Deloitte trying to control but Cannon flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Deloitte is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Cannon.
Cannon throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Deloitte!

Cannon patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Deloitte is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Troy Cannon dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Deloitte gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Cannon moves into the clinch.

Cannon decides to pull guard.

Cannon is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Deloitte wants to control from the top but Cannon keeps moving.
Deloitte stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cannon swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cannon is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Deloitte is controlling him.

Cannon pulls Deloitte in close to prevent any damage.
Deloitte sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cannon's guard.

Cannon holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Deloitte with the ground and pound but Cannon uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Cannon on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cannon tries to get out of the position.
Cannon pulls Deloitte in close to prevent any damage.
Cannon is trying to hold Deloitte in close to prevent damage but Deloitte has managed to pass into half guard.

Cannon moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Cannon is trying to control the position but Deloitte postures up.
Deloitte trying to control the position from guard on top but Cannon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Deloitte trying to control but Cannon is working from the bottom.
Troy Cannon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Deloitte is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jr Deloitte wasn't active enough on the ground.

Cannon manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Deloitte on his heels. He'll look to pass Deloitte's guard now, I'm sure.

Cannon wants to get up but he can't break Deloitte's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Deloitte has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Cannon is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

It looks like Troy Cannon has been cut.
Deloitte throws an elbow but it misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

With the fighters up against the cage, Deloitte throws an elbow but misses.
Cannon is trying to break the clinch but Deloitte is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Deloitte rushes Cannon and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Cannon has had enough of the clinch but Deloitte keeps him there for the moment.
Deloitte misses with an elbow strike.
Deloitte drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cannon gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Cannon jumps into guard, dragging Deloitte to the mat.
Deloitte is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Cannon looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Deloitte passes into side control.
Cannon is looking for a sweep.

Deloitte working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Deloitte wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cannon keeps working.

Deloitte gets to mount! Cannon was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Cannon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Deloitte is trying to control here but Cannon has managed to regain half guard.

Deloitte wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cannon keeps working.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Cannon preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Troy Cannon has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Cannon displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Deloitte.

Cannon tries to circle away but Deloitte has him pinned against the cage.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Deloitte drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jr Deloitte has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Troy Cannon is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Deloitte takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Deloitte unloads a knee to the mid-section. Cannon lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jr Deloitte.
I think Cannon has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
