PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Hyatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Copello (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hyatt comes into the arena with Street fighter blaring out of the sound system. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimmy Hyatt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Felipe Copello!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Copello keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hyatt ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Hyatt throws a shot from downtown. Copello moves away and avoids it.
Hyatt misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Copello fails to land with a series of punches.
Hyatt misses with the combination.
Hyatt misses with a leg kick.
Hyatt throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Copello takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Hyatt dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Hyatt throws a head kick that misses
and Copello counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Copello pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Hyatt back to the cage. Copello follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Jimmy Hyatt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Copello looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Hyatt is looking to break free of the clinch but Copello has double underhooks.
Hyatt tries to break free but Copello pushes him back against the cage.
Copello misses with a short punch on the inside.
Hyatt wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Copello has Hyatt pressed against the cage, preventing Hyatt from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Hyatt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Copello jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Copello checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Copello looks to score with a jab to the body but Hyatt is just out of range.
Copello tries to move into range but Hyatt moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Some bone on bone action there as Copello checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Hyatt scores with the left hand. Copello knows he should have avoided that one.
Hyatt uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Copello.
Copello is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

It looks like Hyatt has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Copello in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

It looks like Felipe Copello has been cut.
Hyatt catches Copello with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
No joy there for Copello, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hyatt throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hyatt throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Copello stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Hyatt connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Copello momentarily.
Felipe Copello is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
The referee is keeping an eye on Copello - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
A frustrated look appears on Hyatt's face as he tries to break the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Hyatt takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jimmy Hyatt.
Well Hyatt has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
