Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Owen Castle!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fernandes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fernandes wants to pass the guard but Castle is keeping the position.
Castle wants to sweep but no luck.
Castle is trying to keep Fernandes in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fernandes is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Castle has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Castle!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fernandes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Castle doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Castle manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Castle working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Fernandes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Castle pulls his head out easily.

Castle is looking for a kimura but Fernandes is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Castle to get the leverage.
Castle should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Castle is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Fernandes is looking for a sweep. Castle is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Castle maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Fernandes could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Castle has cracked it and Fernandes is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Castle!
