Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Cena! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kelsey Cumberdale! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cumberdale dives in and scores a takedown into Cena's guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Cumberdale drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cena looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cena looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cena! Cumberdale really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cena. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cena trying to control the action but Cumberdale is working from the bottom. Cena advances nicely into full mount. Cena controlling his opponent. Cena unloading with bombs!
That's one minute gone in the round. Cumberdale is wriggling around trying to escape.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cumberdale can do anything to dispel that myth. Cumberdale defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Cena. Cena controlling the position easily from mount. Cena has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cumberdale wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Cena patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cena has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Cena has good solid back control here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cena working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Cumberdale is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Cena has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Cumberdale taps out!
