10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rajesh Koothrappali! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Koothrappali throws a sloppy head kick and Lannister moves out of range easily. Koothrappali wants to slow Lannister down by chopping away at his legs. Koothrappali misses with a left hand and Lannister counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Koothrappali's guard now. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Lannister scoring with some ground and pound. Lannister cracks Koothrappali with a solid left hand. Lannister forces his way into half guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Lannister controlling the pace. Lannister looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lannister lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Lannister scoring with strikes to the body and head. Lannister is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Lannister is thwarting Koothrappali's attempts to control the position. Koothrappali is looking for a sweep. Lannister is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Lannister wants to lay and pray for a moment but Koothrappali keeps working. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tyrion Lannister. Lannister has a takedown stuffed.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lannister shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Koothrappali defends it nicely. No luck with that takedown attempt from Lannister. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyrion Lannister. That's going to take a lot out of him. Koothrappali throws a leg kick but Lannister checks it. Koothrappali defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lannister. Lannister is looking to clinch but Koothrappali is avoiding it.
Lannister chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Koothrappali can pounce on him.
Koothrappali throws an overhand right that lands on Lannister's shoulder, as Lannister tries to avoid the shot. A looping hook to the body misses from Koothrappali. Lannister does a little dance to reset his feet. Koothrappali catches Lannister with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Rajesh Koothrappali seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Lannister tries to close the distance and clinch up but Koothrappali swats him away and circles back towards the center. Lannister on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lannister takes a body punch but keeps moving. Lannister takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Lannister checks a low kick from Koothrappali. Koothrappali moves out of range of the strikes. Some bone on bone action there as Lannister checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Rajesh Koothrappali is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Koothrappali connects with a leg kick. Lannister looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Lannister fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Koothrappali manages to avoid it. Lannister chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Koothrappali can pounce on him.
Koothrappali tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Lannister is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Koothrappali thows a body kick. Lannister tries to catch it but that hurt him. Lannister misses with a hook to the body
and Koothrappali counters with a good low kick that Lannister was not able to check. Koothrappali feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Lannister's calf. Lannister slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Lannister fails with an attempt to clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lannister changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Koothrappali tries to avoid it but Lannister manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Koothrappali to the ground. Koothrappali escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Koothrappali pivots, looking for a leg kick but Lannister is out of range and Koothrappali settles back down. Koothrappali scores with a spinning back kick! Lannister tries for a takedown but Koothrappali sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Lannister checks a low kick from Koothrappali. Lannister blocks a low kick nicely. Lannister uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Koothrappali. Koothrappali misses with a low kick. Koothrappali misses with a straight left. Koothrappali missing with a left hand there. Lannister was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Lannister tries to clinch but Koothrappali is having none of it. Lannister slips a straight right by Koothrappali. Lannister scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Lannister tries for a takedown but Koothrappali sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Koothrappali with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Koothrappali throws a half hearted mid kick. Koothrappali tries a low kick but Lannister avoids it. Lannister fails to land with a series of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Tyrion Lannister will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Lannister misses with an uppercut. Koothrappali saw that one coming. Lannister takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Koothrappali throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Koothrappali throws a sloppy head kick and Lannister moves out of range easily. Lannister swings for the body but Koothrappali moves out of range.
Koothrappali cracks the inside of Lannister's front leg. Koothrappali tries to score with a low kick but Lannister moves his leg out of the way. Koothrappali connects with a single shot there. Koothrappali ducks under a wild hook from Lannister. Koothrappali feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Lannister's calf. A nice leg kick lands there from Koothrappali. Koothrappali turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Koothrappali fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Lannister checks it well. Rajesh Koothrappali seems to be getting the better of the standup. A jab from Lannister does it's job there. Lannister doesn't manage to clinch there - Koothrappali circles away.
Lannister throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Koothrappali. Koothrappali tries to land a front kick but Lannister steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
That's one minute gone in the round. Koothrappali throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lannister sees it coming and avoids it easily. Lannister jabbing away but nothing is landing. Koothrappali throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Koothrappali throws a hook but Lannister blocks it. Lannister tries to score a power double leg takedown but Koothrappali sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lannister somewhat. Lannister tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Koothrappali paws at him with a jab and circles away. Koothrappali misses with a left hand and Lannister counters with a takedown into side control. Lannister has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Koothrappali is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Lannister yanks on the arm and Koothrappali is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Lannister.
