With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Abraham Lincoln!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ballard misses with a takedown

and Lincoln counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Ballard makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ballard.
Ballard is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Lincoln is concentrating on defense, preventing Ballard from advancing position.
Ballard wants to control but Lincoln is keeping him busy.

We've been hearing good reports from Ballard's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lincoln connects with a nice short shot to Ballard's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lincoln lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Ballard escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lincoln gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ballard working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lincoln doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lincoln manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Lincoln got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ballard has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lincoln has managed to get both his arms back between Ballard's legs - danger averted.

Well Lincoln has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
