The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from Russo.
We've been informed that Russo has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Russo rushes Rizzo Jr and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Rizzo Jr scores with a shot to the side of Russo's head.
Rizzo Jr swings wildly with an uppercut but Russo uses good head movement to avoid it.

Russo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Rizzo Jr controls from within his opponent's guard.

Russo tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Rizzo Jr's elbow.

Russo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rizzo Jr just stands there and leans against the cage.

Rizzo Jr escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rizzo Jr throws a leg kick which misses Russo's front leg but catches the back leg as Russo tries to avoid it.
Leeroy Russo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Russo chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rizzo Jr can pounce on him.
Russo attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Russo throws an elbow but it misses.
Rizzo Jr lands a left hand.
Rizzo Jr presses Russo against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Rizzo Jr blocks an elbow strike from Russo.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Enrique Rizzo Jr decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
Leeroy Russo was interviewed post fight and said 'Man, that dude's tough as nails! I can't believe he took some of those shots. He was the better man tonight. Tonight!'.
