The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood walks into a left hand.
Griggs drops his hands momentarily and Wood takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Wood takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Wood getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Griggs slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wood misses with a kick to the body
and Griggs connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Griggs showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Wood.
Griggs gets the takedown into side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Griggs cracks Wood with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Wood is trying to control Griggs's posture but Griggs avoids it.
Wood felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Griggs advances to full mount.
Griggs looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Wood covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
