Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Conner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pieter Daan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mickey Conner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pieter Daan!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Conner wants to clinch up but Daan keeps it at a distance.
Conner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Daan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Conner tries to clinch up.
Daan drives through and clinches with Conner against the cage.
Daan manages to break the clinch.
Daan shoots in but Conner avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Conner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Daan paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Conner looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Conner fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Daan, pushing him back against the cage.
Conner pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Daan with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Conner looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Daan is fending him off so far but Conner persists. Nope, Daan circles away and we're back to standing.
Daan wants to clinch.

Conner closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Daan manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Daan is trying to control but can't.
Conner not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Conner throwing shots but Daan is blocking nicely.
Daan is looking to control Conner's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Daan avoid being mounted?
Daan is looking for a sweep. Conner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Conner slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Daan is looking to sweep but instead, Conner has passed into half guard.
Daan is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Daan is trying to maintain the position but Conner is very close to passing his half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Conner wants to take a breather but Daan is having none of it.
Conner is really struggling to control Daan but he's trying to hold on to the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Mickey Conner wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Daan fails with the takedown.
Daan closes the distance and clinches.
Conner is trying to pull guard but Daan has him pressed against the cage.

Conner's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Daan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Conner is looking to reverse the position.
Daan working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The strikes coming from Daan are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

A close round but Pieter Daan will probably get the nod.

Daan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Conner sprawls well initially but Daan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Daan tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Conner is staying active underneath Daan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Daan is just content to waste time from the top position. Conner takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Conner thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Daan wants to control from the top but Conner keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daan is looking to stand up but Conner won't let him.
Conner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Daan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Conner on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Conner tries to get out of the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Pieter Daan.
Daan swats away the attempt to clinch by Conner.
Conner gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Daan counters with a left to the body.
Mickey Conner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Daan avoids the head kick by Conner.
Daan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Daan shoots in and drives through. Conner sprawls well.

Daan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Daan stands and steps away. Conner gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Daan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Daan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Daan decides to stand back up. Daan steps back and let's Conner get back to his feet.
Daan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Conner is fending him off so far but Daan persists. Nope, Conner circles away and we're back to standing.
Daan throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Conner tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Daan is in Conner's guard.

Conner can't keep his opponent in guard - Daan advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Daan is looking to take a break and control but Conner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Conner is trying to escape back to his feet but Daan uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Conner seems a little lost for a moment, as Daan dominates the positioning.
Conner manages to get back to half guard.

Conner has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Daan is working away from the top position though.

Daan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Conner's head.
Daan slows the pace down in half guard.

Daan wants to pass the guard but Conner is defending well.
Daan has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Conner defend it? Daan steps over the head and cranks it - Conner is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Daan!
