PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ville Alasin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Joannides (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Alasin might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Be Aggressive - Faith No More. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alasin ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Joannides tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Alasin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Alasin throws a series of punches but Joannides moves out of range.

Joannides throws a chopping leg kick but Alasin manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Alasin lands a nice shot to the body.
Alasin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Joannides throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Alasin to regain full guard.
Alasin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Alasin tries to get out of the position.
Joannides won't allow Alasin to get back to his feet.
Joannides is looking to pass into half guard but Alasin pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Alasin is in guard.

Joannides is pulling down on Alasin's head. It's preventing any offense from Alasin, at least for the moment.
Alasin looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jimmy Joannides was stalling too much, according to the referee.
The fight stays on the outside here - Joannides looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Alasin dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Joannides throws a jab when Alasin was well out of range.
Joannides doesn't manage to clinch there - Alasin circles away.
Joannides looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Alasin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Joannides.
Ville Alasin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Joannides is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Alasin.
Joannides misses with a few strikes there.
Alasin smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Alasin bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Alasin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Joannides.
Joannides closes the distance and clinches up with Alasin, looking for a takedown. Joannides pushes Alasin against the cage but Alasin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ville Alasin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Joannides.
Joannides throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Joannides fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Alasin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Joannides.

Joannides moves into the clinch successfully.
Alasin wants to break the clinch but can't.
Alasin wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Joannides has him pressed against the cage.

Alasin manages to break the clinch.
Joannides rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Alasin counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Joannides throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Alasin counters with a one-two to the body.
Joannides walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Alasin checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

and Alasin counters with a series of strikes that sends Joannides to the canvas! Alasin follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight!

A control attempt from Joannides but he's now mounted!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Alasin is standing up, even though he is in mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Alasin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Joannides at a distance.
Joannides seems to have recovered his senses.
Joannides gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Alasin.

Nice uppercut lands for Alasin. That snapped Joannides's head back.
Joannides is still on wobbly legs! Can Alasin finish him?
Joannides fails with an attempt to clinch.
Alasin throws an overhand right that drops Joannides like a sack of potatoes! Alasin dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

A relieved looking Ville Alasin thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
