The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis misses with a takedown
and Mahone counters with a two punch combo.
Mahone tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pettis swivels and escapes.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Pettis is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Mahone has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pettis pushes Mahone away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mahone gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Mahone shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pettis but Pettis pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Mahone dives in for a single leg takedown but Pettis sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

The crowd cheers as Mahone lands an impressive looking overhand right. Pettis doesn't seem phased though.
Mahone closes the distance and clinches up with Pettis, looking for a takedown. Mahone pushes Pettis against the cage but Pettis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A combination from Mahone does no damage.
Mahone shoots in but Pettis avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mahone fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Mahone misses with some punches.
Pettis tries for a takedown but Mahone manages to get underhooks.

Mahone manages to pull guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pettis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Titiarito Pettis has got the better of the ground game so far.
Pettis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Pettis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mahone has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pettis has managed to get both his arms back between Mahone's legs - danger averted.

Mahone is rocked!
Pettis arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Mahone's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Titiarito Pettis!
