The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shimizu scores with a sloppy right hand. Powders should have avoided that one.

It looks like Garry Powders has been cut.
Powders checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Powders throws a predictable looking body shot
and Shimizu counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Powders takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Powders misses with a wild body shot.
Shimizu scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Shimizu tries to score with a low kick but Powders moves his leg out of the way.

Shimizu throws a series of punches but Powders avoids them all with ease.
Powders definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Shimizu is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Powders rather than just go for the knockout.
Powders tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Shimizu was well out of range. Poor timing from Powders.

Shimizu fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Powders has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Powders closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Powders lands in his opponent's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Shimizu wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Powders stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shimizu swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Powders has gone for a leg lock! Shimizu slips out almost immediately though and dives into Powders's guard.

Shimizu seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Powders blocks a head kick by Shimizu.
Horrible takedown by Powders or perhaps it was just good defense by Shimizu which made him look bad.

Yuya Shimizu seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Shimizu slips a straight right by Powders.
Shimizu connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Powders's hands.
Powders throws a looping overhand right but Shimizu ducks down to avoid it.
Garry Powders seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shimizu works Powders's body with a nice hook.
Shimizu moves away from the strike by Powders.

and Shimizu counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Powders is rocked!
Shimizu throws a quick inside leg kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Powders has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Shimizu finds it's way round the side to connect with Powders's head.
Oh Powders is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Shimizu knocks out Powders with a massive right hand! The ref tackles Shimizu before he can follow up with any more strikes and that's it everyone. Shimizu picks up the big W with a huge KO!
