Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Neely (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenichi Shirahama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Neely comes to the cage accompanied by Cracker - Low. The crowd seem to be enjoying Shirahama's choice of entrance music: Fade To Black. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

22 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenichi Shirahama! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shirahama slips a jab and a cross from Neely.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Shirahama has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Neely gets a double leg takedown into Shirahama's guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Neely trying to control the position from guard on top but Shirahama is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shirahama is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Neely is aware though and is defending well. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shirahama is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shirahama wants to control but Neely is keeping him busy.

Kenichi Shirahama showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Neely's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Neely throws a leg kick but Shirahama checks it. Neely throws a lazy right hand but Shirahama sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Neely fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Shirahama moves out of range of the strikes. Neely throws a front kick aimed at Shirahama's knee but Shirahama avoids it well. Neely throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fight stays on the outside here - Neely looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Neely tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Shirahama swivels and escapes. Neely misses with a leg kick and Shirahama counters with a good low kick that Neely was not able to check.

Neely misses the shot to the body. Neely looks to land a right hand but Shirahama moved out of range. Neely misses with a wild body shot. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Shirahama.

and Shirahama counters with a takedown into side control. Shirahama is trying to ground and pound but Neely uses the momentary lack of control by Shirahama to regain half guard. Neely keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Shirahama landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Shirahama is keen to just control but Neely is a slippery customer. Shirahama might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Neely haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Neely throws a leg kick and Neely takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Neely throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shirahama. Neely tried to score with a low kick but Shirahama checks it. Shirahama darts in looking for a takedown but Neely gets double underhooks and turns Shirahama into the cage. Shirahama turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Shirahama moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Jack Neely has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Neely wants to control from the top but Shirahama keeps moving. Shirahama is trying to keep Neely in close.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Neely trying to control but Shirahama is working from the bottom. Neely scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Shirahama has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Shirahama has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Neely can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Shirahama keeping moving, preventing Neely from controlling successfully. Neely throws an elbow that misses. Shirahama uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Neely's guard. Nice move by Shirahama! Neely tries to strike from the bottom.

Shirahama connects with a couple of short punches. Shirahama looking to sit in guard and control but Neely gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Neely in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Neely stopping the sweep attempt from Shirahama.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jack Neely. I think Shirahama has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
