PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Franck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Kitano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kitano has chosen Zeni Geva: Slam King as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joseph Franck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kenji Kitano!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut there from Franck.
Kitano dodges the punch combination from Franck.
Franck swats away the attempt to clinch by Kitano.
Franck throws out a loose jab but Kitano uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kitano moves in looking to clinch but Franck pushes him off.
Nice sprawl there from Kitano as Franck shoots in.
Kitano tries to close the distance and clinch but Franck swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Kitano has closed the distance and engaged Franck in a clinch.
Kitano crunches a lovely knee into Franck's ribcage.
Kitano lands an elbow inside.


It looks like Joseph Franck has been cut.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Kitano.
Franck is looking to break free of the clinch but Kitano has double underhooks.
Kitano lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Franck backwards.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kitano softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Kitano obliges.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Franck takes an elbow to the temple.
Kitano gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


Joseph Franck's cut is getting worse.
Franck has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kitano is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
A short right from Kitano on the inside.


Joseph Franck's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Franck is breathing heavily.
Kitano lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Kitano lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Kitano lands a nice elbow.
Kitano lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Kitano gets through Franck's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Kitano's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Kitano told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Kitano lands a shoulder strike.


Jeez, Joseph Franck's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Kitano pushes Franck back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Kitano has Franck pushed against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Franck avoiding damage as Kitano throws knees to the body.

Kitano tries to land a knee to the head but Franck blocks with his arms.
Kitano creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Franck's defenses.
Kitano cracks Franck with a nice body shot.
Kitano lands with a light punch inside.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Joseph Franck's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Kenji Kitano!
Kenji Kitano decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
