PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bob Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tal Avitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Hansen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tal Avitan!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Eddie Farnsworth and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avitan throws a right and a left that Hansen avoids nicely.
Hansen throws a sloppy head kick and Avitan moves out of range easily.
Hansen really is a fat lump.
Avitan gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Hansen counters with a shoot takedown. Avitan fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Avitan controls Hansen momentarily but Hansen frees himself.
Hansen wants to get up but he can't break Avitan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Hansen controls from within his opponent's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bob Hansen.
Hansen stuffs the takedown.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hansen has Avitan up against the cage in a clinch.
Hansen jumps guard but Avitan turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Hansen drops down looking for an ankle pick but Avitan pulls his leg out and moves away.
Avitan gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Hansen counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Bob Hansen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tal Avitan.

Avitan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hansen, pushing him back against the cage.
Hansen is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Avitan is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Hansen is defending well.

Avitan manages to break the clinch.
Avitan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Avitan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hansen is fending him off so far but Avitan persists. Nope, Hansen circles away and we're back to standing.
Avitan shoots in for a double leg but Hansen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Avitan goes for a double leg but Hansen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hansen continues to drive forward.
Avitan looks winded!

Hansen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Hansen has closed the distance and engaged Avitan in a clinch.
Hansen is trying to pull guard but Avitan has him pressed against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hansen is trying to force a seperation but Avitan has the dominant position.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Avitan takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Hansen gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Avitan.
Hansen is trying to break the clinch but Avitan has him pressed against the cage.

Avitan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Avitan tries to sprawl but Hansen drives through with a takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Avitan misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Avitan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Hansen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hansen content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Avitan avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hansen.
Avitan trying to control but Hansen postures up.
Avitan wants to sweep but Hansen has passed to side control!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
You can see the frustration on Avitan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Avitan regains half guard there - taking advantage of Hansen's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Hansen dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hansen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Avitan avoids it really well and circles away.
Hansen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hansen wants it to stay on the feet.

Hansen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hansen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Avitan trying his best to control but Hansen has mounted him.
Hansen wants to control the pace but Avitan is squirming around nicely.
Hansen is really struggling to control Avitan but he's trying to hold on to the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Avitan is looking to get to half guard.
Avitan is bucking up trying to escape but Hansen cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Hansen sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Hansen prevents Avitan from getting the reversal.
Hansen trying to control but Avitan is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Avitan can't escape the position.
Avitan in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Hansen trying to control but Avitan is having none of it.

Hansen looking to isolate an arm here. Avitan doesn't see it coming and as Hansen extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Hansen!
