The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powders walks into a jab.
Powders shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kulot defends it nicely.
Kulot stuffs the takedown.
Powders shoots in looking for a takedown. Kulot tries to sprawl out of it but Powders keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kulot manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Will Powders. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kulot lands a head kick!
Kulot buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kulot delivers a nice body kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Powders.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Kulot is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Powders has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Powders passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Kulot!

Powders is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Kulot has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Powders jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Kulot manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Powders thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Powders has hold of Kulot's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Kulot tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Powders cranks the arm and Kulot screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Kulot, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
