The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dodson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Silva as he jumps to the side. No luck for Silva with that takedown attempt. Dodson throws a head kick but Silva moves out of range.

Dodson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Silva, pushing him back against the cage. Silva tries to pull guard but Dodson forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Silva tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dodson swivels and escapes. Joe Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dodson slips under a jab from Silva. Silva stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Silva wants it to stay on the feet. Dodson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silva circles away. Dodson closes the distance and clinches. Dodson breaks the clinch.
Dodson ducks under a wild hook from Silva. Silva tries for a takedown but Dodson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Silva looks winded! Dodson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Dodson sitting and controlling from the half guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dodson performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Silva is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Dodson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Dodson's back! Silva avoiding Dodson 's attempts to control his hands. Silva is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Dodson with him. Dodson is trying to defend but Silva has an arm under the chin now! Dodson grimaces and is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Joe Silva! Joe Silva tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
