Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andy Loow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andy Loow could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Roy Nelson's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Andy Loow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Roy Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Loow.

and Loow counters with a shoot takedown. Nelson fights it but they end up in guard.
Loow controls from within his opponent's guard.
Loow seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Nelson for as long as he can get away with.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Andy Loow has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Andy Loow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roy Nelson.
Loow is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Loow has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Nelson is trying to escape the position but Loow is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Andy Loow.

Loow has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Nelson regains guard immediately.

Loow drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Nelson dives on top into guard.
Nelson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Loow looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nelson is one step ahead there.
Nelson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Loow works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Nelson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Loow is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Nelson, into his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Nelson is trying to drag Loow to the mat but Loow just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Nelson tries to score a body lock takedown but Loow shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Loow jumps guard and drags Nelson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
My spies in Koi Training Center inform me that Nelson has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Loow creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Nelson sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Loow remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Andy Loow is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Roy Nelson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
