The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rio slaps away a takedown attempt from Monkey, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Monkey shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rio but Rio pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rio dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Monkey enables Rio to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Monkey manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Monkey fails with a takedown attempt.
Monkey throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rio's waist but Rio gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Monkey off to one side.
Monkey goes for a double leg but Rio avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rio continues to drive forward.
Rex Rio has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Crazy Monkey.
