Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mate Kurtisevic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Donald Grub and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hughes scores with a head kick.
Kurtisevic throws a head kick but Hughes moves out of range.
Hughes tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kurtisevic manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Kurtisevic counters with a low kick, right behind Hughes 's knee.

Hughes is trying to stall.
Hughes jumps into guard, dragging Kurtisevic to the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hughes isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kurtisevic stacks Hughes on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kurtisevic!
Hughes is trying to control Kurtisevic's posture but Kurtisevic avoids it.

Hughes pushes Kurtisevic away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kurtisevic gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Kurtisevic takes a little break here. Hughes wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Hughes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kurtisevic doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kurtisevic manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hughes has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Kurtisevic doesn't defend quickly enough and Hughes has managed to lock this one up! Can Kurtisevic escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Hughes on a fantastic submission victory.
