And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Corey Birthday!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rei misses with the body kick

and Birthday counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Rei is pressing down on Birthday's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Rei can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Birthday controls the pace.
Let's hope that Birthday has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Birthday trying to control but Rei is working from the bottom.
Birthday pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rei is keeping the position for now.
Birthday trying to control the position from guard on top but Rei is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Corey Birthday was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Rei tries to bum rush Birthday with a series of wild strikes but Birthday uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Birthday uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rei.
Djoser Rei seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Birthday checks a low kick from Rei.
Birthday has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Rei is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Rei lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Birthday throws a nice looking combination but Rei bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rei scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Rei stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Rei moves out of range of the strikes.
Birthday moves away from the strike by Rei.
A jab from Birthday misses.
Rei works the jab nicely.


It looks like Corey Birthday has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Birthday jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Rei uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rei misses with an attempted mid kick.
Rei fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.


Birthday is rocked!
Birthday is holding his hands too far apart here. Rei throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Birthday is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Djoser Rei!
During a confident post fight interview, Djoser Rei thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
