Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Zachariah Newman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mohammed Safwat! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Atkins and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Safwat shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Newman as he avoids it easily. Newman shoots in and bounces Safwat off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Newman trying to control the position from guard on top but Safwat is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Newman sitting in guard, not really doing much. Newman lands a couple of digs. Newman sitting in guard, not really doing much. Safwat is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Newman is looking to stand up but Safwat won't let him. Newman slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Zachariah Newman has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Safwat goes for a double leg but Newman avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Newman continues to drive forward. Safwat tries to pull guard but Newman forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Zachariah Newman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mohammed Safwat. Safwat struggles to land a body shot inside as Newman controls his hands.
Newman pulls guard. Newman wants to sweep but no luck. Newman trying to control the position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Newman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Safwat can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Newman manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Safwat keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Safwat wants to hold on but Newman pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Newman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Safwat slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Safwat is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Newman seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Zachariah Newman has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Newman misses with a head kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Newman shoots in looking for a takedown but Safwat manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Newman's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Safwat gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Safwat is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Safwat jumps guard but Newman stands there with Safwat around his waist. Safwat gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Safwat manages to break the clinch.
Newman closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Newman lands in his opponent's guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Newman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Newman trying to control but Safwat is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Zachariah Newman dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Safwat wants to clinch up but Newman keeps it at a distance. Safwat fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Newman closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Safwat's guard. Safwat trying to control the position.
Newman is pushing down on Safwat's leg trying to pass to half guard. Safwat is fighting to maintain full guard but Newman has managed to sneak the leg through. Safwat really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Newman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Safwat looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Newman pushes past his half guard into mount! Newman landing punches. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Newman controlling his opponent. Newman looking to control but Safwat is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Zachariah Newman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Newman sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Safwat wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Newman has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Safwat is defending well but eventually Newman manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Safwat has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
