Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hoban Washburn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bronco Buster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Washburn might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Magic Carpet Ride. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hoban Washburn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
22 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bronco Buster! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Alexandre Firmino and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Buster misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Buster misses with a wild body shot. Washburn takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Buster has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Nice takedown defense from Buster. No joy for Washburn on that attempt. Washburn closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Buster quickly recovers to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Buster works his way to full guard. Good work. Washburn throws a big right hand that misses. Washburn in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Washburn is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Franklin D. Bluth Memorial Supergym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Buster controlling Washburn's posture. Buster trying to control the position.
Washburn trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Buster manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
That's one minute gone in the round. Washburn keeping moving, preventing Buster from controlling successfully. Washburn has Buster pulled in close to control his posture. Buster wants to control from the top but Washburn keeps moving. Washburn working a defensive guard here.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Bronco Buster hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Washburn closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Buster quickly recovers to half guard. Buster is not content to let Washburn control the position. Buster trying to control here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Buster moves into full guard.
Washburn throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Washburn is looking to work some ground and pound but Buster has wrist control. Washburn tries to free his leg and advance position but Buster is retaining full guard. Washburn scoring with punches to the head and body. Washburn throws a big elbow that misses. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Washburn is working Buster over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Washburn trying to control the position from guard on top but Buster is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Washburn looking to sit in guard and control but Buster gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Buster in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Buster looking to pass the guard. Buster connects with a couple of short punches. Washburn looking to sweep here. No luck so far. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Washburn is on top in guard.
Washburn trying to control but Buster is working from the bottom. Washburn throws a big elbow that misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Washburn missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Buster working a defensive guard here.
Buster has Washburn pulled in close to control his posture. Buster avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Washburn trying to control but Buster is working from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Washburn looks for a takedown but Buster sprawls well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hoban Washburn dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Buster keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Washburn tries to score a power double leg takedown but Buster sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Washburn somewhat. Buster throws a shot to the body.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Buster, as that shot connected.
Buster tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Washburn defends well and Buster ends up having to push Washburn into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Buster misses with an elbow strike.
Washburn lands a left hand that snaps the head of Buster backwards. Washburn misses with a body punch.
Washburn lands a body punch in the clinch. Buster pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Washburn is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Buster has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Washburn after a bit of a struggle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buster swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Washburn looking for a takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hoban Washburn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Washburn is trying to trip Buster. He has hold of a leg but Buster is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Washburn persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Washburn trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Washburn throws a big elbow that misses. Washburn trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Buster looking to control.
Washburn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Buster wants to stand up but Washburn is controlling him. Washburn trying to control but Buster is working from the bottom. Washburn throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Buster works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Washburn trying to control the position from guard on top but Buster is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Hoban Washburn wasn't doing enough on the ground. Buster throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Buster misses with a shot to the body letting Washburn counter with a right hand. Washburn changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Buster looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Washburn scores with a couple of short elbows. Washburn misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Washburn throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Washburn in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Washburn trying to control the position but Buster is working away. Washburn landing strikes. Washburn is working Buster over with some ground and pound from side control. Buster avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Washburn. Buster is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Washburn asserts his dominance and retains side control. Buster is looking to reverse the position. Washburn misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Washburn remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Washburn cracks Buster with a big elbow. Buster is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Washburn off and has taken his back! Buster just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Buster tries to get the hooks in deep but Washburn pushed the leg off. This has been an exciting period of action! Washburn breaks Buster's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Washburn looking to sit in guard and control but Buster gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Washburn keeping moving, preventing Buster from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hoban Washburn dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Buster fails to land the takedown. Washburn shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Washburn showed some decent athleticism there. Washburn throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Washburn is trying to control. Buster wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Buster tries to get to full guard but Washburn has control of the leg. Buster won't allow Washburn to pass to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Washburn slips a nice elbow through Buster's hands, connecting with Buster's forehead. Washburn winds up and cracks Buster with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Buster wants to get back to full guard. Washburn throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Washburn is keen to just control but Buster is a slippery customer. Washburn perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Hoban Washburn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Buster keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Washburn looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Washburn wants to work for an arm triangle but Buster is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Bronco Buster has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Washburn not landing any meaningful shots this time. Buster works his way to full guard. Good work. Buster wants to stand but Washburn is controlling the position. Washburn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Buster swivels though and keeps the full guard. Washburn preventing the sweep. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Washburn wants to pass the guard but Buster is keeping the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Washburn stopping the sweep attempt from Buster. Washburn working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Washburn postures up and lands a big shot to Buster's brow. Buster avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Washburn trying to control but Buster is working from the bottom. Washburn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Buster lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Washburn!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Buster landing strikes from the mount. Buster working away from the top, dropping strikes. Washburn is looking to get to half guard. Washburn sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Washburn is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Buster's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Buster's back! Washburn softening up his opponent with strikes here.
Hoban Washburn is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Washburn lands a shot to the head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Washburn is looking to finish with some ground and pound! Buster is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
And that's the end of the fight! Hoban Washburn showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Washburn, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
