PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andy Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Syko Klip (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andy Cole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Syko Klip!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Alyssa Summers and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cole dives in and scores a takedown into Klip's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Cole trying to control the position from guard on top but Klip is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Klip is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cole is aware though and is defending well.
Klip is pulling down on Cole's head to control his posture.
Cole postures up.
Cole wanted to stand there but Klip had control of the position.
Cole tries to free his leg and advance position but Klip is retaining full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Klip can do anything to dispel that myth.

Klip pulls Cole in close to prevent any damage.
Klip really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cole. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Syko Klip was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Cole tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Klip drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

You can see the frustration on Cole's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Cole is trying to improve his position.

Klip lands a few punches from side control.
Klip wants to control but Cole is keeping him busy.
Klip cracks Cole with a big right hand but Cole just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
You can see the frustration on Cole's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Klip wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cole keeps working.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Klip wants to stand but Cole is controlling his arm.
Klip is chipping away with strikes.

Cole manages to work his way to half guard, despite Klip's best efforts.

Klip must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Cole has his foot on Klip's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Klip works his way back into a safe position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Klip wants to control from the top but Cole keeps moving.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


No joy there for Cole, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Klip shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Klip showed some decent athleticism there.

Klip working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Klip drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Cole dives on top into guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Klip fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cole, pushing him back against the cage.

Klip breaks the clinch.
Cole closes this distance looking for a takedown but Klip circles away.
Cole avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Klip counters with a shoot takedown. Cole fights it but they end up in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Klip had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cole defends it easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Syko Klip showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Klip pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Klip decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Cole is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Klip pulls his head out easily.
Klip lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Klip feints and as Cole raises his hands in defense, Klip changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Klip has gone for a leg lock! Cole slips out almost immediately though and dives into Klip's guard.

Klip manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Klip stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cole swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Syko Klip comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Klip has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
