Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jere Dunlap! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Doyle Schwarzenneger! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dunlap tries to clinch there but Schwarzenneger circles away.
Dunlap keeps the fight on the outside. Dunlap tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Schwarzenneger manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Dunlap with a poor takedown and Schwarzenneger counters with a shoot takedown. Dunlap fights it but they end up in guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Dunlap managing to control the position. Dunlap really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Dunlap is trying to control the position but Schwarzenneger postures up. Dunlap is trying to hold Schwarzenneger in close to prevent damage but Schwarzenneger has managed to pass into half guard.
Dunlap tries to get to full guard but Schwarzenneger has control of the leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dunlap is trying to maintain the position but Schwarzenneger is very close to passing his half guard. Schwarzenneger prevents Dunlap from improving his position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jere Dunlap. Dunlap is looking to clinch. Dunlap gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Schwarzenneger counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Dunlap!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Schwarzenneger is looking to take a break and control but Dunlap is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Dunlap wants to control but Schwarzenneger postures up. Schwarzenneger looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Schwarzenneger stands up and beckons Dunlap to his feet. Schwarzenneger defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Dunlap. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jere Dunlap. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dunlap doesn't succeed with the takedown and Schwarzenneger counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Schwarzenneger wants to get back to his feet.
Schwarzenneger is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Dunlap manages to get to full guard. Dunlap looking to hit a scissor sweep but Schwarzenneger is one step ahead there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Schwarzenneger wants to get up but he can't break Dunlap's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Schwarzenneger prevents Dunlap from getting back to his feet. Dunlap looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dunlap controls Schwarzenneger momentarily but Schwarzenneger frees himself. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Schwarzenneger throws a strike but Dunlap rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Doyle Schwarzenneger dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Dunlap throws a leg kick and Schwarzenneger counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Dunlap is looking to stand up but Schwarzenneger isn't so interested in that idea. Dunlap is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Dunlap is striking off his back. Schwarzenneger thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard. Dunlap has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Schwarzenneger is working away from the top position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dunlap works his way to full guard. Good work. Schwarzenneger engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Dunlap is trying to hold Schwarzenneger in close to prevent damage but Schwarzenneger has managed to pass into half guard.
Dunlap wants to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Schwarzenneger tries to stand and escape but Dunlap is controlling the position. Schwarzenneger prevents Dunlap from improving his position. Dunlap slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Dunlap working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Schwarzenneger doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Schwarzenneger manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dunlap controls Schwarzenneger momentarily but Schwarzenneger frees himself. Schwarzenneger got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dunlap has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Schwarzenneger has managed to get both his arms back between Dunlap's legs - danger averted. Dunlap lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Schwarzenneger!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Schwarzenneger tries to reverse the position but Dunlap maintains control. Dunlap controlling from the full mount. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Dunlap trying to control but Schwarzenneger is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jere Dunlap dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Dunlap. Schwarzenneger throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Schwarzenneger takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Schwarzenneger drives through with a takedown into guard. Dunlap is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Dunlap has an active guard here but Schwarzenneger has managed to pass into half guard.
Dunlap is pressing down on Schwarzenneger's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dunlap has his foot on Schwarzenneger's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Schwarzenneger works his way back into a safe position though. Dunlap wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Schwarzenneger manages to pass to side control. Schwarzenneger wants to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Schwarzenneger slows the pace down in half guard. Dunlap trying to control but Schwarzenneger postures up.
Schwarzenneger is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Dunlap preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Doyle Schwarzenneger was stalling too much, according to the referee. Schwarzenneger stuffs the takedown attempt from Dunlap. Dunlap gets slowly back to his feet. Dunlap tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Schwarzenneger paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Schwarzenneger looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Dunlap! You can see the frustration on Dunlap's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Dunlap sneaks back into half guard. Dunlap is staying active underneath Schwarzenneger, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Doyle Schwarzenneger. I think Schwarzenneger has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
