Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ivan Spasov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Lambert! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spasov misses with a takedown attempt and Lambert counters with a nice double leg into guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Lambert wants to pass the guard but Spasov is keeping the position. Lambert keeps trying to improve his position. Lambert with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Spasov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Spasov is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lambert defends well. Lambert postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Lambert is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Lambert makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lambert prevents Spasov from getting the reversal. Lambert can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Spasov is looking to escape. Lambert controlling the pace for now. Spasov tries to get back to half guard but can't. Lambert in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Lambert lands a big elbow. Spasov is looking to improve his position but Lambert isn't that keen on the idea. Lambert landing shots from mount. Lambert can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Spasov is looking to escape. You get the feeling that Spasov really doesn't like being in this position too much.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Spasov is squirming around, avoiding Lambert's attempts to control the action. Lambert content just to control the position here.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Robert Lambert wasn't active enough on the ground. Spasov misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Spasov fails with the takedown and Lambert counters with a nice double leg into side control. Spasov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lambert to the mat! Lambert manages to get full guard. Spasov looking to pass the guard. Lambert manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Spasov manages to get himself to full guard.
Lambert stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spasov swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lambert trying to control but Spasov is working from the bottom. Lambert with a nice head shot there. Lambert not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Lambert scoring with punches to the head and body. Lambert is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spasov has momentary wrist control but Lambert slips an elbow through the middle. Lambert trying to control the position from guard on top but Spasov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Spasov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Lambert working some strikes from top position. Spasov keeping full guard, as Lambert tries to pass. Lambert controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Lambert must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Robert Lambert has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Spasov shoots in and bounces Lambert off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lambert tries to land a sweep but no joy. Spasov wants to control from the top but Lambert keeps moving. Lambert is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Spasov is controlling him. Lambert is looking to stand back up but Spasov counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Lambert.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lambert works his way to full guard. Good work. Lambert managing to control the position. Spasov passes Lambert's left leg - he's now in half guard. Lambert is trying to stand up here but Spasov is controlling him well. Spasov drops an elbow to the side of Lambert's head. Spasov is looking for a kimura here.
Lambert slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spasov is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Lambert keeping full guard, as Spasov tries to pass. Lambert bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Spasov's guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Spasov is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lambert defends well. Lambert avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Robert Lambert showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Lambert escapes and throws Spasov's legs to the side, diving into side control! Spasov tries to improve position but can't. A lull in the action here. Lambert moves into full mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Lambert lands with some strikes. Spasov is in a horrible position here. Lambert smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Lambert takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Lambert with a couple of short strikes. Lambert controlling the position easily from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Lambert avoids the attempt from Spasov to control. Spasov is trying desperately to improve position. Lambert unloading with bombs! The referee warns Spasov that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Lambert is landing with some decent strikes but Spasov is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Spasov is rocked! Spasov taking shots to the head. Oh Spasov is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Lambert lands a big shot to the head and Spasov winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
