Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Coffey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Schiller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tommy Coffey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matthew Schiller!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coffey throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Schiller.
Coffey misses with a takedown attempt - Schiller sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Left hook, right uppercut from Coffey.
Coffey will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Schiller tries to clinch but Coffey is having none of it.
Schiller scores with a three punch combo!


It looks like Tommy Coffey has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Schiller shoots in looking for a takedown. Coffey tries to sprawl out of it but Schiller keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Coffey manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Schiller looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Coffey is looking to clinch but Schiller is avoiding it.
Schiller doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Schiller manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Coffey on his heels. He'll look to pass Coffey's guard now, I'm sure.
Schiller working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Coffey's head.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Schiller has eaten all the pies!
Coffey has control of Schiller's left arm, preventing Schiller from doing any damage.

Schiller might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Coffey haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Schiller stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Coffey swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Schiller postures up in Coffey's guard and throws a big left but Coffey blocks it.

Schiller must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Schiller avoids the body shot from Coffey.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Schiller tries for a takedown but Coffey sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Tommy Coffey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matthew Schiller.
Schiller uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Coffey.
Coffey tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Schiller swivels and escapes.

Coffey tries to kick Schiller off but Schiller keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schiller wants to pass the guard but Coffey is keeping the position.
Schiller throws a strike but Coffey rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Schiller controls Coffey momentarily but Coffey frees himself.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matthew Schiller dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Tommy Coffey's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Schiller gets the takedown into side control.
Schiller throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Schiller wants to control but Coffey is keeping him busy.
Schiller is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Schiller wants to take a breather but Coffey manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Schiller.
Coffey pulls Schiller in close to his closed guard and prevents Schiller from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Matthew Schiller hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Coffey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Schiller swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Coffey looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Schiller lands with a hook. Coffey tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Schiller darts in looking for a takedown but Coffey gets double underhooks and turns Schiller into the cage.
Schiller is trying to pull guard but Coffey turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Coffey tries to pull guard but Schiller holds him up against the cage and eventually Coffey drops back down to his feet.
Coffey has Schiller pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Schiller manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Coffey. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Schiller gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Schiller is looking to stand up but Coffey won't let him.

Coffey can't keep his opponent in guard - Schiller advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Schiller throws a strike but Coffey avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Schiller connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Coffey some visible discomfort.
Coffey is trying to get back to his feet.

Schiller has hold of Coffey's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Coffey seems comfortable defending it but Schiller has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Coffey is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Coffey is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Schiller couldn't care less - he's delighted!
