Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Major Obrien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kbong Boxer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Major Obrien has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Major Obrien!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kbong Boxer!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Obrien misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Boxer.
Obrien could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Boxer throws a low kick but Obrien avoids it.
Boxer throws a series of punches but Obrien avoids them all with ease.

Obrien rushes Boxer and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Obrien successfully pulls guard.
Boxer wants to stand but Obrien has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Obrien controlling the position.
Boxer postures up in Obrien's guard and throws a big left but Obrien blocks it.
Obrien is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Boxer is controlling him.
Obrien keeping full guard, as Boxer tries to pass.
Boxer with a flurry of punches that miss.

Obrien is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Obrien content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Boxer is looking for a takedown.

Obrien blocking some punches.

Obrien breaks from the clinch.

Obrien closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Obrien content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Boxer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Obrien wants to work for an arm triangle but Boxer is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Obrien seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Obrien's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Boxer wants to get back to his feet.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Major Obrien just wasn't active enough.
Boxer goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Major Obrien has been cut.

Obrien clinches with his opponent.
Boxer tries to throw a body punch but Obrien avoids it by throwing Boxer back against the cage.

Obrien ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Obrien no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Boxer wants to stand but Obrien has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Obrien pulls Boxer in close to prevent any damage.

Obrien manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Boxer goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Boxer gets tackled into the cage by Obrien. Obrien maintains the clinch.
Boxer swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Obrien gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Obrien drops an elbow to the side of Boxer's head.

Obrien is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Obrien is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Boxer is trying to control but can't.

Boxer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Major Obrien overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Boxer wants to control but Obrien is keeping busy.
Obrien is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Obrien seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Boxer for as long as he can get away with.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boxer misses with a double jab.
Boxer misses with the combination.
Obrien misses with a body shot.
Boxer's corner calls for a 1-2. Boxer obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Some bone on bone action there as Obrien checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Obrien feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Obrien has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Obrien is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Obrien seems to be working for a kimura but Boxer defends the submission attempt.
Obrien tries to stand and escape but Boxer is controlling the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Boxer is trying to maintain the position but Obrien is very close to passing his half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Boxer tries to clinch but Obrien moves away

and Obrien counters by clinching up.

Obrien gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Obrien is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Boxer's shoulder. That is not cool.
Obrien wants to stand but Boxer is controlling his arm.

Obrien thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
A lull in the action here as Obrien stalls from top position.

Obrien tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Boxer is trying to control Obrien's posture but Obrien avoids it.
Kbong Boxer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Boxer takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Boxer tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Obrien wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Boxer gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Obrien controlling the position easily from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boxer is wriggling around trying to escape.
Obrien controlling his opponent.
Obrien has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Boxer's face.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Boxer tries to lock up and control but Obrien gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Boxer is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Obrien controlling his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Major Obrien showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Obrien, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
