Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Gus Stein! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ben Johnson! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stein darts in and clinches Johnson up against the cage. Stein gets underhooks to prevent Johnson's takedown attempt.
Stein could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Johnson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Johnson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Johnson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Johnson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Stein trying to control the position.
Johnson landing some decent shots from guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Johnson scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Johnson's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Johnson preventing the sweep. Stein trying to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Johnson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Johnson won't allow Stein to get back to his feet. Johnson works over Stein with some ground and pound from guard. Stein might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Stein is breathing heavily. Stein looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Johnson's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Johnson throwing strikes from guard but Stein blocks nicely. Johnson passes easily into side control. Nice work. Johnson is chipping away with strikes.
Stein is rocked!
It looks like Gus Stein has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Johnson scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Stein is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Johnson can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ben Johnson!
