Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Simo Solmu! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jose Lopez! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lopez doesn't manage to clinch there - Solmu circles away.
Solmu looks to score with a jab to the body but Lopez is just out of range. Lopez showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Solmu.
Solmu cracks Lopez with an open hand slap. Lopez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Solmu.
Lopez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lopez moves into the clinch. Nice body punch from Lopez - that landed with a thud.
Lopez working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Lopez is pressed up against the cage. Solmu has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lopez down to the mat. Lopez avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Lopez misses with a head kick.
Solmu looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Lopez forces Solmu back against the cage and clinches. Lopez lands a right hand that snaps the head of Solmu backwards. Lopez using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Solmu has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lopez is defending well against a takedown attempt. Lopez tries to work over Solmu's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Solmu is breathing heavily. Lopez throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Solmu blocks it with crossed arms. Lopez lands a nice knee to the body. Solmu is looking for a takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Simo Solmu. That's going to take a lot out of him. Solmu is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Lopez is defending well. Solmu tries to score a body lock takedown but Lopez shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Lopez lands a hook to the side of the head. Lopez lands a nice knee to the body. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Lopez lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

It looks like Simo Solmu has been cut. Still in the clinch, Lopez scores with a nice short uppercut. A right hand to the body from Lopez.

Oh Solmu is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Lopez pulls back and lands a big elbow that stuns Solmu! Lopez unloads with more strikes and Solmu sinks to his knees! This one is all over!
