PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Buffy Slayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Potatos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Potatos has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Buffy Slayer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 18 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Potatos!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling eachother endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive.

Slayer scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Slayer tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Potatos throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Slayer tries to stand but Potatos is controlling his head.
Potatos is trying to strike from the bottom but Slayer has passed into full mount.
Potatos throws a strike but has given up his back in the process.
Potatos looks winded!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Slayer nearly escaped from the position there.
Slayer keeps control of the position as Potatos tries to break free.
Potatos keeps the fight on the ground as Slayer tries to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slayer is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Potatos is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Slayer is hanging on to Potatos's back as he tries to escape.
Slayer is looking to get the fight back to the feet.
Slayer trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Potatos doesn't escape.
Slayer has the hooks in. Potatos is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Potatos tries to roll but Slayer sticks to his back.
Slayer is looking to stand but he's in a difficult position to do so.
Potatos tries to escape but Slayer has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Slayer has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Potatos's body.
Slayer is trying to stand.

I would not like to be Potatos right now.
Potatos can't escape the position.
Slayer is trying to stand.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
I really don't envy Potatos right now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Buffy Slayer dominated that round.

Slayer fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Potatos to the ground. Slayer is now in Potatos's guard.
Slayer wants to stand but Potatos is controlling his posture from full guard.
Potatos is striking but Slayer is not phased and passes to half guard.

Slayer seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Potatos is breathing heavily.
Potatos throws a strike from the bottom but Slayer passes into side control!

Slayer stands up and beckons Potatos to his feet.

Slayer manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Potatos on his heels. He'll look to pass Potatos's guard now, I'm sure.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Slayer would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Potatos wants to improve his position but instead Slayer has moved into half guard.
Slayer wants to stand up but Potatos is controlling the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Potatos tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Potatos is looking to improve his position.
Slayer tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Potatos missing with punches from the bottom.
Slayer tries to stand and escape but Potatos is controlling the position.
Potatos trying to get back to full guard but Slayer takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Slayer tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Buffy Slayer dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


A head kick by Potatos misses

and Slayer counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Slayer is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Potatos wants to improve his position but Slayer is controlling well.
Potatos is still trying to improve position.

Slayer stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Potatos to get to his feet.

Slayer manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Potatos on his heels. He'll look to pass Potatos's guard now, I'm sure.
Potatos takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Slayer wanted to stand there but Potatos had control of the position.
Potatos throwing rabbit punches from the bottom - showing the judges that he's keeping busy.
Slayer wants to stand but Potatos is controlling his posture from full guard.
Potatos is striking off his back. Slayer thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Potatos is trying to get back to full guard.
Jack Potatos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Slayer tries to stand but can't do so whilst Potatos controls his leg.
Potatos throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Potatos missing with punches from the bottom.
Slayer wants to stand up but Potatos has a hold of him and won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Slayer moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Potatos.
Slayer slips into full mount, dodging the strikes by Potatos.
Slayer is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Potatos srikes from the bottom but he's lost position and has given up his back.
Slayer trying to control momentarily.
Slayer seems like he's trying to stand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Slayer has good solid back control here.
Potatos tries to roll but Slayer sticks to his back.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Well Slayer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Buffy Slayer decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
