PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andy Peters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Duggan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peters comes to the cage accompanied by The Casualties - My Blood. My Life. Always Forward.. The crowd seem to be enjoying Duggan's choice of entrance music: We made you - Eminem. Jim Duggan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andy Peters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Duggan!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Peters drives through with a takedown into Duggan's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Peters stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Duggan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Peters postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Peters with a flurry of punches that miss.
Duggan working a defensive guard here.
Duggan utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Peters throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Duggan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Duggan wants to sweep here but Peters controlling him for the moment.
Peters stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Duggan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Duggan manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
I've been told that Duggan has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game.
Peters sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peters is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Duggan throws a strike but Peters avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Peters looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Duggan landing some decent shots from guard.
Duggan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Peters has momentary wrist control but Duggan slips an elbow through the middle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Duggan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Peters has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Duggan has managed to get both his arms back between Peters's legs - danger averted.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Peters looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Duggan scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Peters had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Duggan defends it easily.
Peters pulls Duggan in to control the position.

Peters is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Peters has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Duggan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Peters has momentary wrist control but Duggan slips an elbow through the middle.
Duggan landing some decent shots from guard.
Peters will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Duggan makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Peters is looking for a triangle but Duggan pushes his legs off easily.
Duggan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peters. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Peters looking for a guillotine here but Duggan defends easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Duggan stands up over Peters, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Duggan with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Duggan sitting in guard here, content to control.

Peters has an active guard here but Duggan has managed to pass into half guard.
Duggan working over Peters with some ground and pound. Peters looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Duggan controlling the action here.
Peters is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jim Duggan will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Peters is looking to clinch.
Peters throws a low kick but Duggan moves out of range easily.

Duggan rushes Peters and presses him up against the cage.
Duggan lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Peters jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Duggan walks away with a smile on his face. Peters gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Duggan misses with a body shot.
Duggan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Peters digs a good hook to Duggan's body.
Duggan misses with an uppercut

and Peters counters by clinching up.

Peters pulls Duggan into guard.
Duggan trying to control but Peters is working from the bottom.
Duggan works over Peters with some ground and pound from guard.
Peters trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Peters is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Duggan is in close to Peters's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jim Duggan has got the better of the ground game so far.
Duggan trying to control but Peters is working from the bottom.
Duggan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Duggan working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Duggan is in close to Peters's body, working some short punches and elbows.


Peters is rocked!

Peters looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Duggan has picked Peters up and slammed him! Peters can't keep hold of the triangle and Duggan manages to pass to side control!
Peters throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Duggan cracks Peters with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Oh Peters is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A big shot lands for Duggan! That's hurt Peters! Will he recover? Duggan fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jim Duggan!
