The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The War Machine drives through and clinches with Backlund against the cage.
The War Machine trying to control the position but instead, Backlund has worked for underhooks and has pushed The War Machine into the cage.
Backlund gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Backlund passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The War Machine is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Backlund works to advance to full mount. The War Machine defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Backlund is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. The War Machine is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. The War Machine flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Backlund anticipates the leg and manages to get behind The War Machine and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Backlund slips an arm under The War Machine chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Backlund has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Backlund is squeezing on The War Machine like an anaconda would it's prey. The War Machine fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
