Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bubba Jay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcus Sandahl! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sandahl rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jay moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Sandahl will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jay shoots for a double leg takedown but Sandahl sprawls well. He's pushed Jay's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Jay misses with a few strikes there.
Jay tries to clinch there but Sandahl circles away.
Jay misses with a straight right. Jay fails with the takedown. Jay throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sandahl's waist but Sandahl gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jay off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bubba Jay. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sandahl throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jay. Sandahl fails to land with a series of punches.
Jay throws out a leg kick but Sandahl moves out of range and Jay only half commits. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jay cracks Sandahl with an open hand slap.
It looks like Marcus Sandahl has been cut. Jay throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Sandahl to counter with a crisp jab. Sandahl takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Jay shoots and misses and Sandahl counters with a series of strikes that sends Jay to the canvas! Sandahl follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight!
Jay is rocked! Jay is breathing heavily. Sandahl decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jay, up you get! Oh Jay is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's one minute gone in the round. Sandahl uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jay.
Sandahl throws a one two combo.
Jay misses with a takedown attempt and Sandahl counters with a crisp right that sends Jay to the canvas! Sandahl follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marcus Sandahl!
