Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Georges St Pierre! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 9 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Hamish Gaffney! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! St Pierre fails in his attempt to clinch. St Pierre fails with an attempt to clinch.
Gaffney throws a series of punches but St Pierre avoids them all with ease. St Pierre clinches up with Gaffney and pushes him back against the ropes. St Pierre landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Gaffney is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes. Gaffney ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Gaffney no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. St Pierre trying to control the position from guard on top but Gaffney is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. St Pierre postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. St Pierre sitting in guard, not really doing much. St Pierre has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Gaffney is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gaffney is keen to just control but St Pierre is a slippery customer. Gaffney prevents St Pierre from standing back up.

The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. St Pierre keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Gaffney is keen to just control but St Pierre is a slippery customer. That's four minutes gone in the round. Gaffney passes to full mount! Gaffney working St Pierre over with strikes here. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gaffney avoids the attempt from St Pierre to control. Gaffney is landing with some decent strikes but St Pierre is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. St Pierre takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Gaffney's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
