The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Sergei Dronov and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Punk. No joy for Rose on that attempt.
Rose throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Rose throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Punk.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rose.
Rose with a lazy takedown attempt
and Punk decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rose's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rose gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

CJ Rose has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Rose throws a chopping leg kick but Punk manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Rose tries to circle away but Punk has him pinned against the cage.
Rose has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Punk is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Rose gets control of Punk's arms and successfully pulls guard. Rose will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Punk knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rose on the ground.

Punk is figuring out what he wants to do next.

CJ Rose showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rose rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Punk moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rose swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Rose throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Punk's waist but Punk gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rose off to one side.
Rose misses with a two punch combination.
Rose pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Rose throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cm Punk.
I think Rose has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
