Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Britt Vang! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anthony Pettis! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vang tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Pettis closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Vang quickly recovers to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vang is positioning himself well to prevent Pettis advancing to mount. Pettis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Pettis trying to pass the guard but Vang defending well. Vang is staying active underneath Pettis, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Pettis tries to stand and escape but Vang is controlling the position. Pettis tries to pass to full mount but Vang defends it. Vang is doing well to control the position and prevent Pettis from advancing to side control.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Vang closes the distance and clinches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pettis wants to break free but Vang has control.

Pettis wants to clinch. Pettis fails with a takedown attempt. Vang shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pettis as he avoids it easily. Vang scores with a push kick. Pettis tries to clinch up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vang goes for a double leg but Pettis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pettis continues to drive forward. Pettis fails to pull guard.
Pettis has had enough of the clinch but Vang keeps him there for the moment. Pettis is pressed up against the cage. Vang has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pettis down to the mat. Pettis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Britt Vang. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice takedown defense from Vang. No joy for Pettis on that attempt. Pettis is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Vang's half guard. Pettis looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Vang controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Pettis stops Vang from getting back to his feet.

Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Vang. Pettis fails to advance to Vang's back. Vang tries to lock up and control but Pettis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pettis cracks Vang with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Pettis with a couple of short strikes. Pettis looking to control but Vang is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Pettis scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Vang?
Vang holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Pettis tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Vang reaches up to try and control the position but Pettis seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Vang rolls and tries to escape and now Pettis has his back!
Vang is breathing heavily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Vang is trying to break free.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Vang looking very determined here, making life difficult for Pettis.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Anthony Pettis dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Vang fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Vang closes the distance and clinches up with Pettis, looking for a takedown. Vang pushes Pettis against the cage but Pettis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Pettis throws a leg kick but Vang sees it coming and checks it nicely. Vang lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Vang leaves Pettis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pettis. Pettis shoots in but no luck this time. Britt Vang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anthony Pettis. Vang lets loose with a powerful body kick. Pettis will feel that in the morning. Vang tries to clinch up but Pettis circles away and keeps his distance. Pettis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vang as he avoids it easily. Pettis is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pettis dives in and grabs Vang's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vang pushes down on Pettis's head and hops out. Vang closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Vang tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pettis just stands there and leans against the cage. Vang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A big left from Pettis misses. Pettis scores with a shot to the body.
Pettis closes the distance looking to clinch and Vang counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Vang is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pettis sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Pettis lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Vang backs up against the cage.

Pettis gets tackled into the cage by Vang. Vang maintains the clinch. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Vang pulls Pettis into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Vang throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Vang wants to sweep here but Pettis controlling him for the moment. Vang controls Pettis momentarily but Pettis frees himself. Vang looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Vang throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Pettis wants to control from the top but Vang keeps moving. Vang knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pettis on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vang being controlled here, momentarily.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Anthony Pettis hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Vang showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pettis.
Vang tries to clinch but Pettis moves out of range. Vang fails with a takedown attempt from distance. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Vang dives in for a single leg takedown but Pettis sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Pettis tries to circle away but Vang has him pinned against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Britt Vang will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Pettis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Vang has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pettis is working away from the top position though. Pettis is trying to control the action in half guard but Vang is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Anthony Pettis has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pettis is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Pettis trying to control from Vang's half guard. Vang has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Pettis with a flurry of punches that miss. Pettis looking to pass the guard. Pettis trying to control the position from guard on top but Vang is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vang is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Pettis looking to sit in guard and control but Vang gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Pettis is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Vang is aware though and is defending well. Vang looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Pettis trying to keep a closed guard but Vang is proving a slippery customer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vang trying to stand up but can't free himself from Pettis's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pettis looking to control.
Pettis manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Vang manages to get himself to full guard.
Pettis wants to pass the guard but Vang is keeping the position. Vang keeping moving, preventing Pettis from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pettis preventing the sweep.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Anthony Pettis was stalling too much, according to the referee. Vang misses with a takedown attempt - Pettis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Vang moves into the clinch. Vang has Pettis pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Pettis manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Vang misses with a shot to the kidneys.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Pettis digs a right hand into Vang's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Vang's gas tank.
And that's the end of the fight! Anthony Pettis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Pettis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
