Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Terrence Lloyd!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Kavanagh and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lloyd takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Lloyd closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carney circles away.

Lloyd clinches with his opponent.

Lloyd breaks the clinch.
Lloyd throws a head kick but Carney moves out of range.
Carney misses with a takedown attempt - Lloyd sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Carney doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Lloyd connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Carney momentarily.
Carney will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lloyd dives in and grabs Carney's left leg, looking for a takedown. Carney pushes down on Lloyd's head and hops out.

Carney fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lloyd, pushing him back against the cage.

Carney pulls guard effortlessly.
Lloyd wants to stand but Carney has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Carney has his foot on Lloyd's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lloyd works his way back into a safe position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that George Carney will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Carney has closed the distance and engaged Lloyd in a clinch.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Carney takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lloyd wants to get up but he can't break Carney's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Carney has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lloyd can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Carney is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lloyd defends well.

Lloyd misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Carney moves out of range as Lloyd throws a body kick.
Lloyd tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Carney manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Carney looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Carney tries to clinch up but Lloyd circles away and keeps his distance.
Lloyd fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Carney is out of range.

Carney feints and as Lloyd raises his hands in defense, Carney changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Carney is pushing down on Lloyd's leg trying to pass to half guard. Lloyd is fighting to maintain full guard but Carney has managed to sneak the leg through.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Carney, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
