PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hans Solo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ping Pong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Solo comes to the cage accompanied by Highway to the Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hans Solo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ping Pong! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Solo shoots in for a takedown but Pong shows good takedown defense. Solo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Solo fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hans Solo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pong avoids the body shot from Solo.
Solo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pong as he jumps to the side. Pong swats away the attempt to clinch by Solo. Solo fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Solo fails to land with a series of punches.
Pong will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Solo fails with the takedown and Pong counters with a nice low kick that buckles Solo's knee momentarily. Solo is breathing heavily. Solo tries for a takedown but Pong circles away easily and Pong counters with a thumping low kick. Solo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pong circles away. Pong throws a left and a right that both miss
and Solo counters with a nice uppercut. Pong closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Solo being controlled for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pong tries to stand but Solo is controlling his head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Solo throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land. Solo is trying to improve his position. Solo wants to control but Pong postures up. Solo is looking for a sweep. Solo wants to control but Pong postures up.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Solo shoots in but Pong avoids the takedown attempt easily. A right-left combo lands from Solo.
It looks like Ping Pong has been cut. Solo works over Pong's head and body with a nice combination. Solo scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Pong doesn't seem bothered though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Solo bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Pong's head backwards.
Pong is rocked! Solo is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Pong is in big trouble! Solo is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Pong. Poor guy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Hans Solo!
