PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Austin Fowler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tee Bone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fowler comes into the arena with "On The Hunt" by Lynyrd Skynyrd blaring out of the sound system. Bone comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Somebody's gonna get it kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Austin Fowler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
33 - 31 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tee Bone! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fowler shoots in looking for a takedown. Bone tries to sprawl out of it but Fowler keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bone manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Fowler throws a right and a left that Bone avoids nicely. Fowler shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Fowler slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Fowler closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bone did well to prevent Fowler getting side control. Bone tries to roll over but Fowler keeps him under control. Bone is trying to control but can't.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Fowler connects with a nice short shot to Bone's temple. Bone is trying to get back to full guard. Fowler is trying to control the action in half guard but Bone is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bone looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Bone has a hand on Fowler's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Fowler takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Fowler with the ground and pound from mount. Fowler landing punches. Fowler connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Bone is looking to improve his position but Fowler isn't that keen on the idea. Bone is still trying to improve position. Bone sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Bone trying to hold on to Fowler's head to control him but Fowler postures up.
Bone on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Fowler missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Bone trying to control but Fowler postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bone is defending against the submission attempts here by Fowler.
Bone gets full guard. Bone is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Fowler is aware though and is defending well. Fowler landing with the ground and pound. Bone working for a triangle but Fowler defends it easily.
Bone looks winded! Bone working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fowler doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fowler manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Fowler is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bone controls Fowler momentarily but Fowler frees himself. Bone avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fowler landing with the ground and pound. Fowler working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Fowler lands a couple of elbows. Fowler lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Fowler sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bone's guard. Fowler missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Bone is not content to let Fowler control the position. Fowler is pressing down on Bone's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bone is holding on for now. Fowler really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Fowler seems to be working for a kimura but Bone defends the submission attempt. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Fowler is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bone doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Fowler. Fowler will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fowler takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Bone works his way to full guard. Good work. Fowler content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Bone throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Bone escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fowler gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Fowler postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Fowler throws a big elbow that misses. Fowler cracks Bone with a solid left hand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Austin Fowler dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Fowler throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Fowler throws the left hand but Bone avoids the punch easily. Bone shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Fowler napping and manages to drive through into side control! Fowler sneaks back into half guard. Nice strikes from Bone there. Fowler wants to improve his position but Bone is controlling well.
Bone is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Fowler defends it well. Fowler is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bone's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bone's back! Bone tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Bone is in a horrible position here. Fowler smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bone is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Bone is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fowler lands a heavy elbow. Fowler lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Fowler landing strikes from the mount. Fowler unloading with bombs! Fowler landing strikes, looking to finish! Fowler working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Bone is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Bone is working to get back to half guard.
Fowler lands a nice shot to the head. Bone is still in real trouble! Can Fowler finish him? Fowler looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Bone covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
