PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Peter Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Parker comes to the cage accompanied by Spiderman theme song. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peter Parker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex King!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Parker's guard.
King trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Parker is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Parker keeping full guard, as King tries to pass.
King is looking to advance position but Parker has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Parker lands a big elbow.
King tries to reverse the position but Parker maintains control.
King regains half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
King is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
King punching from the bottom.
Parker is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for King!
King really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
King has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
King wants to control but Parker is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
King blocking the ground and pound.
King keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
King throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Parker throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
King is working to get back to half guard.
King looks gassed!
King is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
King wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Parker.
King is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
King bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
King controlling from the top position.
Parker wants to sweep here but King controlling him for the moment.

Parker has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes King off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Parker rushes King and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
King is pressed up against the cage. Parker has hold of a leg and is looking to drag King down to the mat. King avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
King changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Parker tries to avoid it but King manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Parker to the ground. Parker escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
King throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Parker's waist but Parker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing King off to one side.
Parker moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Both fighters circling a little - Parker finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Parker gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Parker with a knee to the head.
Parker landing knees to the head.
Parker is working for takedown but King is calmly controlling the position for now.

Parker breaks the clinch.

Parker forces King back against the cage and clinches.

Parker breaks the clinch.
Nice sprawl there from Parker as King shoots in.
Peter Parker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex King.
Parker shoots for a double leg takedown but King sprawls well. He's pushed Parker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Parker has closed the distance and engaged King in a clinch.
King gets underhooks to prevent Parker's takedown attempt.
King wants a takedown but no success here.
King drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Parker gets the underhooks and prevents it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Parker dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Parker looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? King is fending him off so far but Parker persists. Nope, King circles away and we're back to standing.
A decent looking cross lands there for Parker.

Parker clinches up with King and pushes him back against the cage.
Parker tries to land a knee to the head but King blocks with his arms.
Parker using the Thai plumb to throw knees but King has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Parker is working for takedown but King is calmly controlling the position for now.

Parker breaks the clinch.

King gets a takedown into half guard.
King thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

King looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's one minute gone in the round.
King throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Parker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for King on the ground.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

King is trying for a kimura here. Parker looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! King wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Alex King!
