Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gerard Mclaughlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thiago Silva told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gerard Mclaughlin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thiago Silva! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva circles away from the clinch attempt.
We've been informed that Silva has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Silva looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Silva is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mclaughlin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Mclaughlin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silva circles away. Nice takedown defense from Silva. No joy for Mclaughlin on that attempt. Mclaughlin dives in and scores a takedown into Silva's guard. Mclaughlin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Mclaughlin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard. Silva is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mclaughlin is controlling him. Mclaughlin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mclaughlin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Mclaughlin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Mclaughlin is looking to stand up but Silva won't let him. Mclaughlin wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mclaughlin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gerard Mclaughlin has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Mclaughlin closes the distance and clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mclaughlin pulls guard effortlessly. Silva stopping the sweep attempt from Mclaughlin. Mclaughlin is trying to keep Silva in close.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva looking to pass the guard. Mclaughlin has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Silva should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Mclaughlin has tightened it up now! Silva should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
