Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kyro Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leos Karanous (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leos Karanous struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyro Maia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Leos Karanous! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Bruno Lombardi and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karanous looks to land a body kick but Maia moved away. A big left from Maia misses. Karanous tries to clinch there but Maia circles away.
Maia decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Maia trying to mount his opponent but Karanous defends it. Karanous wants to get back to his feet. Maia trying to control from half guard but Karanous is working away. Maia is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maia working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Maia sitting and controlling from the half guard. Maia landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Maia working over Karanous with some ground and pound. Karanous looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Maia controlling the action here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Karanous wants to get back to his feet.
Maia tries to pass the half guard into mount. Karanous knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Maia works his foot free and advances to mount. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Karanous is looking to get to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maia landing strikes from the mount and Karanous is in trouble! Maia lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Karanous hang on? Maia landing shots from mount. Maia lands a couple of good shots and Karanous has given up his back, trying to escape the position! This has been an exciting period of action! Maia landing with strikes.
Karanous is rocked! Maia just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Maia is landing big shots and Karanous is squirming looking to escape! He can't escape though and the ref jumps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kyro Maia!
