Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Byron Bluth! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Buscemi! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Buscemi tries to clinch but Bluth moves out of range. A jab from Bluth misses. Buscemi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bluth circles away. Bluth throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Buscemi sees it coming and avoids it easily. Bluth misses with an uppercut. Nice takedown defense from Bluth. No joy for Buscemi on that attempt. Bluth misses with the combination.
Bluth misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Buscemi.
Bluth gets the takedown into side control. Buscemi is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Buscemi works his way to full guard. Good work. Buscemi is looking for a triangle here but Bluth uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bluth landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buscemi prevents Bluth from moving into mount. Buscemi tries to buck Bluth off but Bluth is having none of it. Bluth wants to lay and pray for a moment but Buscemi keeps working. Buscemi gets back to half guard. Buscemi looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Buscemi looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Buscemi looks gassed! Bluth prevents Buscemi from improving his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bluth lands a nice short elbow. Bluth has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Bluth fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Bluth prevents Buscemi from getting the reversal. Bluth dominating with strikes here.
Buscemi is rocked! The referee warns Buscemi that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Buscemi is still in real trouble! Can Bluth finish him? A big strike lands for Bluth! That's really hurt Buscemi and he's turned his back - Bluth keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Bluth Jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
