The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newell fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Newell takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Semenov stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Semenov wants it to stay on the feet.
Semenov leaves Newell with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Semenov connects with a body shot that sends Newell's belly button to the back.
Newell takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Newell drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Newell seems to have locked his on tight now - Semenov screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Newell, as he picks up the win!
